2026 Exhibition Highlights

Indonesia Market Analysis:

Indonesia is a major automotive market in Southeast Asia, creating demand for a wide range of automotive-related components. Domestic vehicle production in Indonesia is expected to surpass that of Thailand by 2025. According to forecasts by the ASEAN Automotive Federation, Indonesia will dominate the ASEAN motorcycle market and become the country with the highest motorcycle sales. The Indonesian bicycle market is growing at an annual rate of 20%, making it the third-largest bicycle consumer market after China and India.

Indonesia is the fourth largest export market for Chinese bicycles, following only exports to the United States and Japan. In Indonesia, bicycles have become the most popular means of transport and sport. High‑quality bicycles have always dominated the Indonesian market. Bicycle sales reached US1.65billionin2006,US1.65billionin2006,US2.19 billion in 2008, US6.92billionin2009,andUS6.92billionin2009,andUS7.14 billion in 2010. The market outlook is very promising.

Most bicycle factories in Indonesia are assembly plants, with some large manufacturers selling under their own brands. The major known local brands are Polygon, United Bike, and Wimcycle. Polygon, with an annual output of over 400,000 units, is the largest bicycle assembly plant in Indonesia. Bicycles on the market are mainly imported, primarily from mainland China, while high‑priced imported bicycles come from Taiwan. Market demand is gradually growing. Currently, most bicycle parts and accessories in Indonesia must be imported, with very strong demand. The main source is mainland China, while Taiwan ranks as the third‑largest import source, accounting for less than 5% of total import value.

Motorcycles are the most convenient public transportation in Indonesia. Although the global economic recession has brought many negative impacts to Indonesia, the motorcycle market remains hot. People's desire to buy motorcycles is increasing day by day. In particular, the well-developed financial credit facilities have brought convenience to the public. With a loan, consumers only need to pay 2 million Indonesian rupiah (approximately 200 US dollars), which is about one-quarter to one-fifth of the vehicle price, to ride a new motorcycle of their choice home.

Indonesia is currently the world's third-largest motorcycle market, following China and India. Motorcycle sales stood at approximately 8 million units in 2011 and were projected to reach 8.7 million units in 2012. This growth trend is set to continue for a long time to come, reflecting enormous market potential.
Motorcycle helmets are also in strong demand across the country. Around 95% of Indonesian motorcyclists wear helmets, and the local government enforces certification requirements for such products.

The ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) came into force on January 1, 2010. A zero-tariff policy has been implemented for a wide range of products between China and Indonesia, creating greater conveniences for Chinese enterprises to explore the Indonesian market.
Finally, wish all exhibitors prosperous business and abundant orders!
